ADA TOWNSHIP, Mich. (AP) - Authorities in western Michigan say an 18-year-old man lost control of his pickup truck and struck another pickup, killing the 93-year-old driver and injuring his 91-year-old wife.

The Kent County sheriff’s department says it happened about 4:40 p.m. Monday in Ada Township near Grand Rapids. The department says the young man’s truck crossed the centerline and into oncoming traffic, where it struck a pickup driven by Rex Baird of Grand Rapids.

The Grand Rapids Press says that Frances Baird was in fair condition Tuesday at Butterworth Hospital.

The sheriff’s department says the 18-year-old was taken to a hospital with minor injuries. The crash is under investigation.
