SHERIDAN, Ark. (AP) - A man who shot at police during a standoff in a neighborhood near Sheridan is in custody.

Arkansas State Police spokesman Bill Sadler says 47-year-old Donald Thomas of the Clearwater Lake area was arrested about 5 p.m. Tuesday after a state police SWAT team fired tear gas into a building where Thomas had barricaded himself inside. No injuries are reported.

Sadler says the Grant County Sheriff’s Office reported that Thomas called authorities and said he planned to burn a home in the neighborhood. Sadler says deputies and firefighters arrived to find the home burning and that Thomas fired at least one shot at the officers.

The address of the home on fire matches the address of Thomas found in public records.

Thomas was arrested for aggravated assault.
