ANN ARBOR, Mich. (AP) - A University of Michigan graduate criticized for tweets about white males received her PhD in sociology and women’s studies and focused some of her research on race, gender and men.

Incoming Boston University professor Saida Grundy has said she regrets tweets that said “white masculinity is THE problem for America’s colleges.”

Grundy completed her doctorate at the University of Michigan last year and starts July 1 at Boston University.

In the past year, she’s been participating in a Yale University urban ethnography project.

She’s also author of a paper titled “’An Air of Expectancy’: Class, Crisis, and the Making of Manhood at a Historically Black College for Men.”

Grundy is an honors graduate of Spellman College in Atlanta.
