PORTSMOUTH, N.H. (AP) - The New Hampshire Department of Transportation says replacement of a bridge spanning the Route 1 Bypass in Portsmouth is complete, four months ahead of schedule.
The new Islington Street Bridge was to be open to vehicle and pedestrian traffic at the close of work Tuesday.
Message boards and detour signs in place since the closure will be removed. Resurfacing on the Route 1 Bypass below the bridge will take place within the next two weeks.
The bridge replacement project cost $4.3 million.
