NEW ORLEANS (AP) - The Champion Square banner image of cornerback Tracy Porter clinching the 2010 Super Bowl with his late interception return for a touchdown is coming down.

The New Orleans Saints tell The Advocate (https://bit.ly/1F4KDKQ) the image is being removed because racing behind Porter is Darren Sharper - a now confessed serial rapist.

Ben Hales, a Saints executive, says the iconic photo hanging at the right of the Champions Square stage has taken on a darker element since Sharper’s guilty pleas in March in three states.

They were part of a deal with guilty pleas still pending in state and federal courts in Louisiana.

Hales said other images may also be removed, or at least “freshened up,” in the makeover of the entertainment square outside the Superdome.
