MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. (AP) - Myrtle Beach police have accused a couple of strapping their 7-month-old daughter into a bicycle trailer and towing it behind their moped during Tropical Storm Ana.

Multiple media outlets say 21-year-old Mark Andrew Cherry and 18-year-old Bianca Rose Allen were stopped by a S.C. Highway Patrol trooper on Sunday. A police report says when an Horry County police officer asked why the infant was being pulled in the trailer, Allen said she didn’t know that they couldn’t carry the child in it. The officer said the trailer’s strap was torn.

Allen and Cherry were charged with unlawful neglect of a child or helpless person by legal custodian. They are free on $5,000 bond and it’s not known if they have attorneys.

The infant is in the custody of her grandmother.
