BOULDER, Colo. (AP) - Officials have called off the search for a 35-year-old man who went missing while tubing at night in Boulder Creek.

Police spokeswoman Kim Kobel tells The Daily Camera (https://goo.gl/WsT1ZH ) that Chris Danko was reported missing by a friend at about 8:30 p.m. Monday after going tubing. Four teams and a search dog looked for the man Tuesday.

Daniel Linnenkamp says he and Danko had been drinking and smoking marijuana when Danko decided to go tubing. Linnenkamp says his friend appeared to have trouble stabilizing the tube because the water was moving so fast.

At one point, Linnenkamp, who didn’t get in the water, tried to pull Danko out, but he couldn’t grab him and lost sight of him.

The creek is moving at about 7 mph, and the water is about 40 degrees.
