CINCINNATI (AP) - Retired Ohio judge and former prosecutor Arthur Ney (nay) Jr., who prosecuted convicted serial killers Donald Harvey and Alton Coleman, has died.

Ney died Monday in Cincinnati at the age of 88. The cause of death wasn’t released.

A spokeswoman for the Hamilton County prosecutor’s office says Ney was the elected prosecutor from 1983 to 1992 and later was a judge on the county’s common pleas court.

In a statement, current Prosecutor Joseph Deters (DEE’-turs) describes Ney as a friend, mentor and valuable public servant.

A funeral Mass is scheduled Friday at St. Francis Xavier Church in Cincinnati. Ney will be buried in the Cincinnati suburb of Montgomery.

He is survived by his wife, Marlene, five children and numerous grandchildren.
