RAWLINS, Wyo. (AP) - A judge has sentenced a 30-year-old former Rawlins High School teacher to three years of supervised probation for sexual exploitation of a child.

William Miller was sentenced Monday by District Court Judge Wade Waldrip.

The Rawlins Daily Times reports (https://bit.ly/1IvXycI ) that prosecuting attorney Dawnessa Synder described Miller as “remorseful and serious” and noted that Miller had immediately pleaded guilty.

Miller told the court that he had betrayed the trust of the community and that he felt ashamed of his actions.

According to court papers, Miller posted an advertisement on Craigslist to meet people in Rawlins. Miller said the 15-year-old victim began to text him and they exchanged inappropriate pictures.

Miller blamed alcohol as having a role in his actions.
