CONWAY, S.C. (AP) - Horry County officials are considering a change that could mean special events could run longer than a week. That might allow the return of a county fair for the first time in years as well as other events on the Grand Strand.

The Sun News of Myrtle Beach reports (https://bit.ly/1E3yHoN ) current rules allow only weeklong events.

Steve Zacharias wants to bring back a county fair next year and says it needs to run at least 10 days over two weekends to attract amusement companies and their rides.

Councilman Marion Foxworth says changing the rules would also allow other events. There has been talk of organizing a Christian music festival in the county as well.

It’s been six years since a county fair was staged in Horry County.
