EAST GREENWICH, R.I. (AP) - An attorney and Cranston municipal judge has been arrested following a fight with his girlfriend.

The Providence Journal reports 51-year-old Thomas Ricci was charged with simple domestic assault and battery and disorderly conduct. Bail was set at $2,000 at his arraignment Monday.

A police report said Ricci’s 32-year-old girlfriend, whose name wasn’t released, accused him of choking her after she awoke him and confronted him early Monday at his East Greenwich home about cheating on her. The police report says the woman said she threw a television remote at Ricci’s head and destroyed a computer in his home office.

Ricci told police he never hit the woman and only put his hands on her neck to defend himself. He said the woman threatened to ruin his reputation and have him put in jail.
