WYTHEVILLE, Va. (AP) - Virginia State Police say new information shows a fatal three-vehicle wreck on Interstate 77 wreck began when a car crossed the median.
State police initially said an FJ Cruiser crossed the median and hit a Camaro.
State Police spokeswoman Corinne Geller says new witness information shows the car crossed the median and hit the SUV. Both vehicles were then hit by a southbound Camry.
The crash’s impact sparked a fire.
The Camaro’s driver, 28-year-old Shan B. Martens of Bassett, and her 9-month-old daughter, Bria S. Hensley, were declared dead at a hospital. The FJ Cruiser’s driver, 45-year-old Anthony J. Asbury of Wytheville, was transported to a hospital and later died.
The Camry’s driver, 66-year-old Peter InterDonato, and a passenger, 61-year-old Beverly InterDonato, of Ripley, West Virginia, suffered non-life threatening injuries.
