PONTIAC, Mich. (AP) - Authorities say an autopsy is expected to be performed on the charred remains of a body found in a van that had been on fire.

Oakland County sheriff’s officials say they found the conversion van fully engulfed in flames Monday morning in Pontiac, about 20 miles northwest of Detroit. After the fire was extinguished, they discovered the body of a man inside the van.

Witnesses tell deputies that the van had been parked in a backyard for more than a year. Deputies say the owner says she has been trying to get rid of the van during that time and hasn’t found anyone to take it.

An autopsy is planned for Tuesday and the incident remains under investigation.
