WINSLOW, Ark. (AP) - Transportation officials say drivers in Northwest Arkansas should prepare for temporary lane closures near the Bobby Hopper Tunnel on Interstate 49.

The Arkansas Highway Department tells KHOG-TV (https://bit.ly/1Rzgk5u ) a tunnel inspection is require every two years to ensure the structure is sound. Starting on Tuesday, inspectors will check for cracks in the concrete and other damage.

Alternating lanes will be closed between 7 a.m. and 5p.m. through Thursday.

Transportation officials warn drivers to prepare for delays while lanes are closed.
