CHICAGO (AP) - The Wallabies have agreed to play the United States in a last hit-out before the Rugby World Cup in September.

USA Rugby announced on Tuesday the test will be at Soldier Field, the NFL stadium which drew a sellout crowd of 61,500 last November for the Eagles’ match against the world champion All Blacks. New Zealand won 74-6, but the score was regarded as less important than a display of breathtaking rugby to draw in new U.S. fans.

The Eagles-Wallabies match is set for Sept. 5, two weeks before the World Cup starts in England.

It will mark Australia’s first visit in 39 years.

Wallabies coach Michael Cheika says in a statement, “The lead up and match will be critical for our Rugby World Cup preparations. We’ve very fortunate we get a chance to face a quality side like the Eagles.”
