SPARTANBURG, S.C. (AP) - A crash on Interstate 26 in Spartanburg County has claimed the lives of two men.

Area media outlets report the Spartanburg County Coroner’s Office has identified the victims of the Tuesday afternoon accident as 72-year-old Arthur Covil of Rutherford, North Carolina, and 59-year-old Charles Jackson of Campobello, South Carolina.

South Carolina Highway Patrol says the two men were thrown from their dump truck when, while trying to change lanes, the vehicle was struck by a tractor-trailer truck traveling the same direction.

The accident happened about 1 p.m. Tuesday in the westbound lane of the interstate about 5 miles south of the North Carolina state line.
