GAINESVILLE, Ga. (AP) - Federal prosecutors say two former Hall County sheriff’s office workers have pleaded guilty to bribery and drug charges.

Authorities said Tuesday that 33-year-old David Treadwell of Gainesville and 19-year-old Austin Herring of Murrayville pleaded guilty to the charges in separate cases.

Officials say Treadwell, a former sheriff’s deputy, pleaded guilty to accepting a bribe from a purported drug dealer in exchange for telling the dealer if local law enforcement was investigating him.

Prosecutors say Herring pleaded guilty to attempted cocaine possession with the intent to distribute. Herring worked as a jailer and accepted money in exchange for taking a package he believed was cocaine to an inmate.
