HANOVER, Va. (AP) - A Richmond couple charged with killing a Hopewell cab driver may face capital murder charges.
The Richmond Times-Dispatch (https://bit.ly/1L1bslc ) reports Hanover County District Judge Heath Campbell certified on Tuesday that first-degree murder charges be sent to a grand jury, which meets June 16. Gruesome details of the case laid out by the prosecutor against 20-year-old Dyshawn Divonte and 19-year-old Alisa Nicole Dejesus could serve as the basis for asking the grand jury to indict them on capital murder charges.
They are charged in the death of 26-year-old James Wells in August 2014.
Officials say Wells was abducted, stabbed multiple times and burned to death inside the taxi he used to transport Simpson and Dejesus.
A trial is not expected until late summer.
