FREDERICK, Md. (AP) - A couple targeted in a spice raid has been sentenced to one year of home detention.

The Frederick News-Post reports (https://bit.ly/1PGA2Zs) Zafar and Khushnood Iqbal entered Alford pleas of guilty to three charges in a Frederick County court on Tuesday, following a multiagency synthetic marijuana investigation in 2013 and 2014.

Local, state and federal law enforcement agencies participated in the investigation that ended in a raid in May 2014. The Frederick County Sheriff’s Office says the Iqbals were arrested after authorities seized more than $100,000 worth of synthetic marijuana from their three gas stations and their home in Thurmont.

By entering Alford pleas, the Iqbals did not admit to committing the crimes but acknowledged that the prosecution had enough evidence to gain a conviction.
