DELMONT, S.D. (AP) - Animal rescue groups are working to help pets affected by a tornado in the South Dakota town of Delmont.

The town’s only animal rescue has taken in six dogs because their owners haven’t been found or temporary housing doesn’t allow pets. Teresa Richardson of E.T. Animal Farm tells the Argus Leader (https://argusne.ws/1cR8NQ2 ) that food donations are welcome, but that some pets were hurt and need veterinary care.

KELO-TV (https://bit.ly/1cvbVjw ) reports Puff ‘N Ruff Rescue in Davison County is trying to reunite pet owners with displaced animals.

The Sunday morning tornado injured nine people in Delmont and damaged dozens of buildings, including a 100-year-old church.
