SPRING, Texas (AP) - An estate sale firm says jewelry and other heirlooms hidden in a dresser and found during a Houston-area offering will be returned to relatives in private.
The Premier Estate Sales Network planned a news conference Thursday in Spring to hand over the estimated $10,000 worth of items.
But a statement Wednesday says the family has decided to receive their heirlooms privately.
A buyer last Saturday paid $125 for what appeared to be an empty three-drawer dresser at an estate sale in Missouri City. The valuables were discovered in a hidden drawer as the dresser was being loaded into a vehicle.
The buyer kept the dresser but asked the company to return the heirlooms to the family of the owner, a man who died.
Names of the relatives haven’t been released.
