IOWA CITY, Iowa (AP) - Authorities have arrested an Iowa City man accused of writing a post on Facebook in which he threatened to shoot white police officers.

The Iowa City Police Department says 30-year-old Michael McCullum was arrested Tuesday and charged with first-degree harassment.

A police complaint says McCullum posted a message May 1 on a Facebook account using the alias Mike Jones. In the post, the complaint says McCullum said he was plotting to shoot “every white cop” he saw in the head, and that he would try to kill at least 15 the following day.

Police say they used photos and videos to confirm McCullum’s identity and his connection to the Facebook account.

Online court records don’t yet list an attorney for McCullum who could comment on the allegations.
