COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (AP) - A man charged in a slaying near Colorado Springs has been acquitted of first-degree murder and conspiracy to commit murder.

The Gazette reports (https://goo.gl/OsbG88 ) 60-year-old Michael Malory was acquitted Monday, but jurors couldn’t reach a verdict on charges of committing a violent crime causing death or serious bodily injury and use of a weapon in a violent crime.

The charges stem from the May 3, 2014, shooting death of 37-year-old Daniel Baird, whose body was found in Malory’s Security-Widefield home.

Defense attorney Todd Johnson says Malory will be tried at a later date for second-degree murder or manslaughter.
