HUNTINGTON, W.Va. (AP) - A Kentucky man has been caught by officials with a loaded gun at the Huntington Tri-State Airport in West Virginia.

The Herald-Dispatch (https://bit.ly/1zZtOCa ) reports the man was stopped by a Transportation Security Administration officer after a checkpoint X-ray machine detected a semi-automatic gun, loaded with six rounds, in his carry-on bag Saturday. The officer contacted the Tri-State Airport Police Department and the gun was confiscated.

The man told authorities he didn’t know it was in his carry-on bag and a relative placed the gun there.

TSA Public affairs spokeswoman Lisa Farbstein says the man missed his initial flight, but was allowed to rebook and depart to Charlotte, North Carolina. The man was cited on weapons charges.
