PORTLAND, Maine (AP) - A Maine government survey says the average statewide cash price for heating oil fell 21 cents from mid-March to mid-May.
The Governor’s Energy Office says the average price was $2.49 a gallon, down from $2.70 in March and up 2 cents from last month.
The average kerosene price was $3.04 and propane prices were $2.53. All three are down from a year ago, when heating oil was $3.56, kerosene was $4.04 and propane was $3.02.
The highest price for heating oil in the state was $3.03 in eastern Maine while the low price of $2.20 was found in the eastern, southwestern and western parts of the state.
Southwestern Maine had the highest average price for kerosene at $3.12, while the average propane price topped out at $2.70 in northern Maine.
