HOLLADAY, Tenn. (AP) - A West Tennessee man has pleaded guilty in the death of his girlfriend’s 7-month-old son.

The Jackson Sun (https://bit.ly/1cSOyRO) cited Benton County Circuit Court records in reporting the plea by 26-year-old Westlee Yates, who was sentenced to 48 years without the possibility of parole in the death of Joseph Hilliard.

The boy’s mother called authorities after finding her son unresponsive last year at their home in Holladay. He was taken to a local hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

Police have said Hilliard stopped breathing and didn’t wake up while in the care of Yates.

An autopsy found that the boy died of blunt-force trauma to the head.
