MANDEVILLE, La. (AP) - Mandeville City Hall may soon have a new wing.
NOLA.com/The Times-Picayune reports (https://bit.ly/1Hdut2A) the city council Thursday night will consider a resolution allowing Mayor Donald Villere (VIL’-er-ee) to hire an architect who would design an expansion to the 40-year-old government building.
City officials said the municipal government has outgrown the City Hall structure. The plan is to build an addition that would encompass new city council chambers and new offices and conference space for the council.
The existing council chambers would be renovated and converted to office space for the city administration.
While the exact cost of the project remains unknown at this point, city officials said they expect it would cost about $2.5 million.
