BOAZ, Ala. (AP) - Authorities in northeastern Alabama are investigating the death of a miniature horse that was found shot and skinned in a pond.

John Tuck told local media on Tuesday that his miniature horse, named Mr. Nubby, was last seen on April 28 and its body was found two days later in a pond.

Boaz police Chief Josh Gaskin says the case is being investigated as aggravated animal cruelty.

Gaskin says authorities are searching for witnesses and additional information in the case.
