OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) - An Oklahoma City high school principal has expressed regret over a video that shows students waving dead cats in a synchronized fashion to a well-known cat food jingle.

Harding Charter Preparatory High School Principal Justin Hunt on Wednesday told the Oklahoman (https://bit.ly/1PGVhu6 ) that school officials are “looking into the matter.”

The YouTube video shows nine students moving the dead felines to the Meow Mix cat food commercial jingle. Hunt says the students were taking part in an anatomy class and were going to dissect the animals.

Hunt says the video was made by students in the fall of 2013 and it’s unclear if a teacher was aware of the recording.

People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals has criticized the video and called on the school to end classroom dissection.
