POCONO PINES, Pa. (AP) - A police officer’s maid is facing charges that she stole $7,000 worth of jewelry from his northeastern Pennsylvania home and pawned it.

WNEP-TV (https://bit.ly/1zZiPs7 ) reports that Pocono Mountain Regional Police have charged 42-year-old Nancy Rivera with theft and receiving stolen property for taking the items from one of their officers in February.

The Associated Press could not immediately reach her public defender for comment and Rivera doesn’t have a listed phone.

But Merry Maids, the Saylorsburg company she worked for, says Rivera is a former employee and that the allegations don’t reflect “the values and standards of our company.”

Rivera faces a preliminary hearing June 4.

Two other police departments are investigating theft allegations involving the woman.
