ALBERTVILLE, Ala. (AP) - Police in Northeast Alabama said remains found in Albertville may be a teenager who disappeared three months ago.

Multiple news outlets report 15-year-old Jason Glenn Richards was last seen February 8 in a restaurant parking lot in Guntersville where friends dropped him off. Police initially believed he was a runaway and had traveled to either Louisiana or Florida.

Detectives were acting on a tip when they found a badly decomposed body Monday in a wooded area near Albertville. Officials said Tuesday a positive identification has not officially been made, but items found at the scene lead them to believe the body is Richards.

Investigators have spoken with persons of interest, but no charges have been filed. A cause of death has not been determined.
