RIVERTON, Wyo. (AP) - One man has been airlifted to the Salt Lake City burn unit after a fire and explosion in a rural Riverton home.

Riverton Volunteer Fire Department Chief Scott Walters says the fire started Sunday afternoon in a gun room at Doc and Deanna Holloway’s home.

Doc Holloway operates the cannons used to celebrate touchdowns at local high school football games.

Walters says there was ammunition going off in the house during the fire.

He says workers pulled the injured man out of the home just before a major explosion.

The rescued man has not yet been identified.

State Fire Investigator Eric Siwik says the explosion blew out a wall and sent debris about 75 yards away.

The house was destroyed, but Walters says firefighters were able to salvage many personal items.
