GRESHAM, Ore. (AP) - A car slammed into a utility pole in Gresham, injuring two and leaving 3,000 people in the area without power.
Police tell KPTV-TV (https://bit.ly/1F6m4x6 ) the driver fell asleep at the wheel Tuesday before slamming into a pole, shearing it off.
The initial crash caused power poles on the other side of the road to bend and one to break. A passing car got tangled in the power lines from the downed pole and flipped onto its top.
The driver was trapped inside and had to be rescued by firefighters. A pedestrian was stuck by something from the crash scene and knocked unconscious. Both injured people were taken to the hospital for non-life threatening injuries.
Police say neither intoxication nor speed are nor factors in the crash.
