CARSON, Calif. (AP) - Los Angeles County sheriff’s officials say the suspect in a fatal hit-and-run crash in the parking lot of a Carson shopping mall has turned himself in.

Deputy Kelvin Moody says the 28-year-old male victim was struck by a black Camaro during a meeting of a local car club Tuesday night. He died at a hospital.

Investigators say the victim had been arguing with a 20-year-old man and the argument escalated into a fight involving the two and their friends.

Moody says at some point the 20-year-old got into his car and struck the victim as he drove away.

The suspect later turned himself in at the Carson sheriff’s station.

Moody says it’s not immediately clear if the crash was intentional or accidental.
