TAMPA, Fla. (AP) - A Hillsborough County physical education teacher accused of insubordination after hosting a pizza party and meet-and-greet featuring his social-media celebrity half-brother will not lose his job.
The school board on Tuesday voted in a split decision not to uphold the district’s decision to fire teacher Adam Reynolds, who has been on unpaid suspension since October.
Reynolds will receive back pay for the six months he was suspended and is eligible to teach again in Hillsborough County.
Last spring, Reynolds brought his 17-year-old half-brother, Carter Reynolds, to school for lunch with about a dozen students then hosted a meet-and-greet with the teen off campus.
The Tampa Tribune (https://bit.ly/1QFQsnb) reports that the opportunity led to what the district said might have been a sexual encounter between the celebrity and a 14-year-old student.
