SOUTH CHARLESTON, W.Va. (AP) - A top federal economic development official is slated to speak in South Charleston.
On Wednesday, U.S. Assistant Secretary of Commerce for Economic Development Jay Williams will give closing remarks during the West Virginia Association of Regional Planning and Development Councils Annual Conference.
The event will take place at noon at the Holiday Inn in South Charleston.
Williams will discuss the Obama administration’s POWER initiative, which is a coordinated effort to provide economic and workforce development resources to communities hurt by the coal industry’s downturn.
