BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (AP) - Birmingham police are investigating after an elderly man was injured during an apparent robbery.
Lt. Sean Edwards said in a statement that 86-year-old Charlie Fuller went outside to feed his dogs Wednesday morning and never made it back inside his house.
Police say one of Fuller’s neighbors grew concerned after seeing one of the dogs run away and went to check on him. Edwards says Fuller’s neighbor saw the man on the ground in his garage with a head injury.
AL.com reports police had been dispatched to the scene on a report of a robbery. When they arrived, Fuller was being transported to a hospital.
Edwards said Fuller was in critical condition Wednesday night. He says Fuller appears to have suffered blunt force trauma.
