HUNTERSVILLE, N.C. (AP) - Various organizations including the N.C. Wildlife Resources Commission are launching a campaign to remind people not to drink and drive, whether they’re on the road or on the water.

The commission, the state Highway Patrol and Mothers Against Drunk Driving will hold a news conference Thursday at Blythe Landing Park on Lake Norman in Huntersville for the start of the annual “On the Road, On the Water, Don’t Drink and Drive.”

Officials say accidents increase in the summer on both the road and the water and that alcohol is often a factor. Drivers who meet or exceed a blood alcohol concentration of .08 percent are subject to arrest.

The agencies will highlight the importance of having a designated driving for a car or a boat.
