MINNEAPOLIS (AP) - Minneapolis police are investigating the response by officers to a downtown demonstration over a police shooting in Madison, Wisconsin.
The group Black Lives Matter Minneapolis claims a 10-year-old boy was among those police sprayed with a chemical irritant during a march Wednesday night.
Minneapolis Police Chief Janee Harteau says the group’s concerns will be investigated. Harteau also says she spoke to the boy’s mother to see how he was doing.
The Star Tribune reports police released an incident report saying a “chemical aerosol” was used to drive back the crowd.
The demonstration follows a decision by the Dane County, Wisconsin, district attorney not to charge a white officer in the death of an unarmed, biracial 19-year-old man in March.
On Thursday night, a crowd of about 100 protesters gathered for a peaceful rally and march.
