BOULDER, Colo. (AP) - The Boulder County District Attorney’s Office has ruled that a sheriff’s deputy was justified when he shot and killed a kidnapping suspect at a popular trailhead.
The Daily Camera reports (https://goo.gl/d7qYgS ) deputies were investigating after two people were abducted at gunpoint in Westminster on April 22. They tracked the suspect’s cellphone to a trailhead in Eldorado Springs and saw a man in the back seat of a car with a gun pointed at the person in the front seat.
Cmdr. Heidi Prentup says the deputy fired one shot, killing the suspect, 39-year-old Lue Vang, of Northglenn. The man had reportedly kidnapped his father-in-law and brother-in-law.
District Attorney Stan Garnett says the deputy was justified in the shooting because “Vang placed another person in imminent and mortal danger.”
