DOTHAN, Ala. (AP) - A former Houston County Commissioner has been found not guilty of felony corruption charges.

The Dothan Eagle reports (https://bit.ly/1cBkdGH ) 71-year-old Bobby Snellgrove was cleared of the charges Thursday. Snellgrove was accused of using his office to obtain more than $220,000 in illegal personal gain from casino developer Ronnie Gilley and his Country Crossing gambling business.

Gilley is serving a six year and eight month federal prison sentence after pleading guilty to offering millions in bribes to Alabama legislators to support pro-gambling legislation during the 2010 session. Two of his lobbyists also pleaded guilty.

Snellgrove’s attorney Billy Joe Sheffield II pointed out inconsistencies in Gilley’s testimony.
