CHEYENNE, Wyo. (AP) - The federal government is seeking a $306,000 penalty against a defunct coal-bed methane developer, alleging the company failed to report production on gas wells in Wyoming.
The Office of Natural Resources Revenue claims Golden, Colorado-based Patriot Energy Resources, LLC, didn’t submit required production reports on the wells. The office alleges claims the company has not yet responded to a noncompliance notice sent in July.
Patriot doesn’t have a working listed phone number and couldn’t be reached for comment.
The federal government uses production reports to help verify that companies are paying the correct amount of federal royalties.
Patriot is a subsidiary of bankrupt coal-bed methane operator Luca Technologies. Wyoming regulators are in the process of cleaning up some 3,500 wells including many formerly owned by Luca and Patriot.
