GRANITE FALLS, Wash. (AP) - U.S. Forest Service officials are warning the public that unseasonably warm weather has made the ice caves in the Mt. Baker-Snoqualmie National Forest near Granite Falls too dangerous for exploration.

KOMO-TV reports (https://is.gd/1845td ) there’s already been a partial collapse at the Big Four Ice Caves this spring.

The lead field ranger says the caves are in a condition they normally wouldn’t see until at least September. Even during seasons with normal temperatures, the popular hiking destination can be dangerous with falling rocks and ice.

In 2010, 11-year-old Grace Tam was killed at the caves by falling ice. Tam was standing on an ice field with her family when the accident happened.
