SHREVEPORT, La. (AP) - FTS International is laying off 80 employees at its Shreveport facility following a consolidation of regional operations in Shreveport and Longview, Texas.
Multiple news outlets report all operations in the region will be centered at the Longview facility and the Shreveport locating will stay open as an equipment maintenance facility.
The layoffs are the latest in a string to hit the oil and gas industry since last year. In April, Oilfield services giant Schlumberger announced it would lay off 11,000 employees. That’s in addition to the 9,000 layoffs it announced in January. Industry officials estimate total job losses at approximately 120,000.
An FTSI spokeswoman says workers in Shreveport were offered transfer positions to Longview.
FTSI is a private oil well completion company with 3,800 employees.
