MANCHESTER, N.H. (AP) - The case of a 25-year-old man who police say left his twin, 9-year-old nephews mostly alone in their apartment for four months after their parents took three siblings to Nigeria is headed for trial.

Giobari Atura said he would stop by every couple of days to leave the boys food. When police got involved in November, they found no edible food in the refrigerator and only ramen noodles in a cabinet.

Atura was charged in December with misdemeanor counts of endangering the welfare of a child. Jury selection is scheduled for Aug. 3.

His brother left for Nigeria with family members in July, intending to return in August. They were delayed by illness and passport problems. Because they left the boys in care of a relative, they weren’t charged.
