DETROIT (AP) - The executive chairman of Ford Motor Company is getting an award from a Holocaust remembrance foundation started by filmmaker Steven Spielberg.

The USC Shoah Foundation announced Wednesday that it’s giving William Clay Ford Jr. its Ambassador for Humanity Award. The foundation says the award will be given to Ford by Spielberg at the organization’s annual gala on Sept. 10 in Detroit.

According to the foundation, the Ford Motor Company was the sole sponsor of the 1997 NBC broadcast of Spielberg’s film “Schindler’s List.”

The two are also working together to expand in the Detroit area the foundation’s platform to bring first-person stories of genocide to students. About 100 educators in Michigan currently use the platform.
