DENVER (AP) - A federal judge has ordered a Colorado company to stop selling high-powered magnets that were recalled by their manufacturer.
U.S. District Court Judge Christine Arguello ruled that Zen Magnets LLC and its owner, Shihan Qu, could be violating the Consumer Product Safety Act by selling magnets that were purchased from a New Jersey company shortly before the magnets were recalled.
The magnets are sold in sets and marketed as desk toys. Authorities said when swallowed by children, the magnets could clamp together and cause serious internal injuries.
Owner Shihan Qu said Thursday the court was mistaken banning the magnets known as Neoballs because there are no recorded incidents involving them being swallowed and consumers want the product.
