SCHOHARIE, N.Y. (AP) - The jury considering murder charges against a wealthy New York businessman with two previous convictions for killing his estranged wife says it remains deadlocked.

The third deadlock note from jurors came Thursday afternoon. They have been considering the fate of Calvin Harris for 11 days. He’s charged with murder in the death of Michele Harris, who vanished after leaving her boyfriend’s apartment the night of Sept. 11, 2001.

Schoharie County Judge George Bartlett is expected to decide how to proceed by the time jurors return midday Friday.

Prosecutors say Harris killed his 35-year-old wife when she returned to their Tioga County home. Her body was never found.

Defense lawyers argued that authorities overlooked other potential suspects.

Two previous convictions had been thrown out on appeal.
