ST. PAUL, Minn. (AP) - Minnesota lawmakers have the bulk of the session’s work to finish, but they’re already gearing up for the usual post-session fundraising blitz to follow.
Lawmakers, candidates and House and Senate caucuses are barred from raising campaign money from lobbyists and political action committees during session. This year’s session is required to adjourn by Monday night.
The Associated Press obtained an invitation for a state Democratic Party fundraiser headlined by Gov. Mark Dayton, Senate Majority Leader Tom Bakk, House Minority Leader Paul Thissen and others that is set for next Thursday. The downtown St. Paul event is described as a “Post-Session Briefing.”
The invitation seeks between $100 and $1,000 per donor.
The law restricting fundraising doesn’t apply during special sessions.
