MINEOLA, N.Y. (AP) - Authorities on Long Island say 15 alleged gang members have been arrested on drug and animal fighting charges.

The arrests took place after search warrants were issued Wednesday on homes in the Freeport and Roosevelt area.

The suspects face charges including conspiracy, animal fighting and sale of controlled substances.

Police and prosecutors say the gang members were selling fentanyl-laced heroin and prescription drugs. Some were also linked to alleged dog fighting charges.

The 15 suspects were expected to be arraigned on Thursday.

Authorities say the investigation is ongoing and additional arrests are possible.
